Do you feel it? There’s a momentum building. Since the description of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) in the late 1980s. The later discovery of the Intrinsically Photosensitive Retinal Ganglion Cells (ipRGCs) in 2002. Rising Vitamin D deficiency concerns. Interest in the impact of light on our wellbeing has been growing.

We need to join up our professions and industries to help individuals and organisations understand the impact that light has on our physical and mental health. We need cross-functional solutions to support them to make behavioural and environmental changes to feel happier, healthier and more productive all year round. We need to collaborate.

Light nutrition for industry professionals.

There are so many pockets of interest in light and wellbeing across industries and professions but so far in the UK, we haven’t had a home for light nutrition. A place where we can share ideas, find collaborators and even market our solutions to other companies or individuals.

How do we harness and combine the learnings of academia, the expertise of medical professionals, the entrepreneurial spirit of startups and the resources of large corporates across a wide range of fields to help people to live their light ideal?

How do we keep the focus where it should be – on supporting individuals to live their own light ideal – while designing environments, products and services for the many?

How will we make the whole more than the sum of our parts?

We don’t have all the answers. We can’t change society alone. We need a collective effort.
